ABOUT RED HATTERS

* Believing that a woman's 50th Birthday should be a time for celebration - not a milestone to be feared

* Remembering what it was like being a little girl, dressing up and playing with your friends.

* Sharing in the warm comfort and understanding of the great fraternity of sisterhood.

* Learning to put the serious side of life to one side for a while and just have fun, along with over 300,000 other women worldwide.

Exerpts from Jenny Josephs poem ...."Warning" on which the Red Hat Society is based.

"When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple, with a red hat which doesn't go and doesn't suit me, and I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves."
"I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired and gobble up samples in shops and press door bells and run my stick along the public railings."

"I shall go out in my slippers in the rain, and pick flowers in other peoples gardens, and learn to spit."
